Dear Parishioners,
Welcome to the First Sunday of Advent. The "Coming" of our God.
The First Reading envisions the new world order that will be established when the Lord "comes."
In the Gospel, Jesus foretells that the time of the "coming" of the Son of Man will catch some people off guard and some will be left behind while others will move on to be with the Lord Jesus and His Father.
We must exert our attention and efforts into doing the deeds of the Light. It is important that we take seriously this season of Advent and strive to put a little more into our living as disciples of the Lord Jesus. It might mean that we spend as much time bringing true peace and joy to others as we decorate our homes and purchase gifts for family and friends. The time is now for us to do all we can to be prepared for the Lord Jesus' "Coming" for us. We cannot put off until later our living as disciples of our teacher. We may not have time later to show our allegiance to the Lord Jesus and His Father. God has given us this chance to better prepare ourselves for Jesus' "Coming," not just the celebration of His first "Coming" when He was born in Bethlehem, but also for His "Coming" at the end.
All we need to do is accept the gifts that God has given us and live a life of Light, peace, and joy. The more we live out our faith, then the more prepared we will be to make the final steps into God's house when Jesus "Comes" to get us and to take us to our eternal home- "Coming." We will be able to rejoice as we journey toward the Lord Jesus Who is "Coming" to take us into the heavenly home forever. You still have time, if you begin right now. Our living as proactive and prepared disciples may help others to join us.
May you have the strength and energy to live adventurously during the new year. Amen!
God Bless,
Father George MSFS

Weekly proclamation based on hope for the Jubilee Year of Hope
Jubilee Year of Hope 2025
Jesus is Our Hope (1 Timothy 1:1)
There are many reasons why God gives us the supernatural virtue of hope. Here are a few important reasons: Hope leads us to persevere in prayer, even when all reason for hope seems absent. (Romans 14:18-21) Hope offers us joy and courage which sustains us in times of trial. Hope allows us to live, grow and persevere in faith. When we need the gift of hope, the most important thing we can do is ask for it. The Lord will answer our prayer. Let us ask Jesus for an increase of hope during this Jubilee Year of Hope.
ST. FAUSTINA STUDY GROUP: the next study group session will be held this Monday, December 1st starting at 4:00 p.m. in the School.
Advent begins Nov. 30th
Advent is the season of preparation for the birth of Christ that includes a call to purification through personal spiritual renewal, receiving the sacrament of reconciliation (confession), and making simple acts of penance and sacrifice. Purification is a key theme, involving the cleansing of hearts and minds from worldly distractions to focus on Christ's coming, asking for the grace to "purify hope" and preparing for the Lord. The priest’s vestments during Advent are purple, the color of penance and sacrifice. They are a constant reminder of our need to get ready—to be cleansed and purified. Advent is a season for stepping back from our busy lives, taking time in stillness and solitude, to reflect more deeply on the mystery of God’s Incarnation—Jesus taking on human flesh to be among us. This can also include something like not having dessert occasionally, or turning off the TV for one night or setting aside an electronic device for an hour. Or this can include helping someone in need or visiting a person who is lonely. We offer small sacrifices to spend this Advent in true preparation for the real gift of Christmas—Jesus Christ.

Today, we have gifts or treats behind each date but the original Advent calendars revealed a Nativity scene.
Next Saturday is St Nick’s Day. Don’t forget to put out your shoe or stocking for 'Small Nicholas' (Mały Mikołaj -Polish) to leave a coin (Chocolate or metal) or orange. If you don’t know the legend, it is worth the time to discover.

Mystic St. Gertrude was told by Jesus if she devotedly said the following prayer, a great multitude of souls in Purgatory would be released into Heaven:
Eternal Father, I offer You the most Precious Blood of Your Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the Universal Church, those in my own home, and within my family. Amen.

Jubilee Year
Making a Pilgrimage
There is a long tradition of making pilgrimages in the Catholic Church. This practice has been encouraged by Pope Francis during the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope. The Pope explains that a pilgrimage is a "fundamental element of every jubilee year." He also granted an indulgence to the faithful who complete pilgrimages in this
Holy Year.
